I wanted to do some things a little differently with this one. The subject is random, inspired by seeing the word 'injury' on a random word generator site - however it is reminiscent of a theme I have explored before in my earlier years as an artist.
The technique I used on this one was hugely different from my usual. I usually paint in black and white first and then go over it in colour. This was sketched, inked and then straight-coloured {that is, I laid the colour under the ink right off the bat, no pre-shading or value-drawing} It was an interesting exercise and I'm happy that I seem to be able to use colour without the aid of the alue drawing. I'm not sure, however, if this produces a better effect or not. Time will tell, I suppose. Maybe I'll repaint it with a value drawing first and see how that turns out. I think I like having an inked outline though.
